100th Anniversary Kawagoe-city Special Project

Celebration with 3 International Sister Cities,

Kura and Contemporary Art 2022

3rd ~13th November 2022

Application Guidelines

This year 2022, Kawagoe City is celebrating its 100th year of municipal government.
On this happy occasion, we have planned to invite artists from 3 international sister cities (Autun,France ; Offenbach, Germany ; Salem, U.S.A.) to celebrate it with us.
However, the situation of pandemic make us difficult to invite you to Kawagoe. Therefore, we decided to change the original plan of inviting artists themselves to participating only in their art works.
We would be grateful if you could understand our decision and cooperate with us.

<Project>

  • For the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kawagoe City's municipal government, we invited art works from 3 international sister cities of Kawagoe to have the exhibition “Kura and Contemporary Art”, which is the annual event held in various historical spaces in this city.
  • We would invite Prof. Sato Tokihiro of Tokyo University of the Arts (Visual Artist, Photographer) to ask to select the works among the entries as the competition.
  • Basically, we expect one work per city.
  • You can request the space for their works among the candidate facilities listed below, please write your request in Application form. The final location might be decided by the our executive committee, with respect for the artist's wishes.
